Reward travel to LHR

  • Was checking on possible last minute reward travel YOW/LHR and it looks to be available all next week on the outbound. Getting back is a bit more difficult. Now to convince my wife to come along with me on the conference Im at. Pretty good for spring break n'est ce pas?

  • I bet that made you day/night. Congrats on you luck. Maybe you'll get lucky on the way home too.

  • Current ones are still pink. Number on the bottom left corner is 'ACF531 (2001-01)'. So if it's the same - it'll work.

  • Yeah, I booked 2 J for YYZ-LHR for the long Easter weekend and the agent said everything was wide open.

  • Congrats CloudLounger! How was the flight? Service?

Incidentally, what flight were you on and was it completely full in Y?

    Cheers!
    V.

  • Hurrah!

A YYZ first for me - I was op upgraded on my YYZ/LHR flight on an M fare. Although I did get my boarding pass in YOW and did surrender an upgrade cert given that I was eligible for the upgrade from YOW to YYZ, I will still give credit to YYZ having come through on the op-up.

  • On another subject, I still have a pink Air Canada Fast Track Arrivals coupon from a couple of years ago. Will the airport authority still accept them?

  • You get Fast Track arrivals slips if you are flying J into LHR and need a UK landing card (because you don't have an EU or EEA passport).

They don't give them to EU/EEA passport holders because this passport queue is the fastest of them all, but every time I see people asking for the fast track slips (oohh look at me, I'm important!) even though they could get throught much quicker in the normal passage.

  • I didnt actually go to the back but recall that it was quite open when I checked ITN the day before.

Exec 1st was quite nice (but I do not think it was really any different from CP business class of old x/YOW) 3 empty seats in J if I recall. Three choices for breakfast - I opted for steak and eggs with potatoes and grilled tomato. First time that the steak was not cooked beyond recognition. Champagne was flowing to some. Ice cream and cookies then warm snacks before landing. Very attentive flight crew checking to see if everyone had what they needed. They addressed passengers by name. Flight left on time and arrived on time despite having to circle for 5/10 minutes at LHR. Fast track customs queue moved as quickly as non EU passport holders. EU passport folks didnt even break stride it went so fast. Did not see if the arrivals lounge was open but crew handed out invite cards to the lounge prior to landing.

Im on the wait list for the return as I am flying full Y but flight is very full at this point. My fingers are crossed.

Day flight to Europe is so much more civilised than evening flight. If it left YYZ a bit earlier, I expect that folks could make beter onward connections.

  • They don't give them to EU/EEA passport holders
This seems to depend on the crew. I typically get one, even when I use my EU passport. Occasionally the EU line is a little bit longer that Fast Track so it's handy to have the pass. Otherwise I hang on to them and give them to colleagues.

  • True. I have found that they give the lounge card, landing card, and fast track card as one package, on the somewhat shaky assumption that if you don't need one, you don't need the rest.

  • Fast Track Arrivals? How do you get your hands on those?

  • Thanks for the advice on LHR fast-track.Am on AC tonight and was not aware of this service.
