My son is now almost 2 and a half. We have been trying to introduce potty train and have so far managed to get him to sit on the potty without his nappy on. He will sit for a couple of minutes then get up again but so far has refused to pee. How long does potty training take . I have not pushed him and have been letting him take it at his own pace, are we doing it right?You have to have patience. It takes time. Reward him with something and be positive when he does potty. Don't reward him all the time or he thinks he going to get something everytime he potty. Need to take him in the morning when he wakes up, after lunch, etc You need to push him a little harder and be positive with him. I hope this helps! Kids will train at their own speed. Boys can be a little slower to catch on than girls. My sister tried letting him shoot cereal in the toilet with his stream. Offer it often especially first thing in the morning when he is more likely to have to go.
Have daddy take him sometimes and let him go to the bathroom and talk to daddy while daddy is going. My son went into the bathroom while his daddy going and it helped him get the idea.. Ask him often if he wants to try to peepee in the "big Boy" toilet.
Praise him when he trys, soon he will be able to tell you when he needs to go.Don't pressure him, time flys and he will grow up ....Hello, I think you're doing the right thing by not pushing him. He will do it when he's ready - just make sure you give him plenty of praise when he first goes as he will then realise that its a good thing to go on the potty. Just persevere, each child is different. With my children I used to sit them on the potty before and after a bath and first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Also, if they asked to go (even if they didn't need it). Have you tried letting him run round naked from the waist down for a little while?
